Terms & Conditions

A legal disclaimer

State law provides that, with few exceptions, you are entitled to be informed about the information that the state collects about you and to request, receive, and review that information.

During the account creation process, information, including your name, email address, phone number, date of birth, driver license/ID number, and social security number, is collected to authenticate your identity using a third-party identity verification system. TxT records your email address as part of account creation. Your social security number is used for verification purposes only. TxT uses cookies to gather information, personalize your experience, and improve the product.

For online transactions conducted on TxT, you will be requested to enter information about yourself. The type of information requested will vary based upon the specific transaction and the state agency or local government involved in the transaction. TxT will collect the same information as would be collected if the transaction was performed in person, over the telephone, or through the mail with the state agency or local government. Additional information may be requested if required by law if such information is necessary to verify your identity and secure the transaction.

When you use TxT, we may also collect and store, indefinitely, the Internet protocol (IP) address from which you access TxT. An IP address is a unique number assigned to the computer you are using when you access the web. We collect this information for our own Internet security protocols to help protect the security of TxT, our IT systems, and your data.

Use of Information

Information collected during an online transaction is used for the following purposes:

To complete online transactions with the appropriate state agency or local government and with the payment method selected during the transaction;

To send an email to or otherwise contact you confirming the transaction or identifying and resolving problems that may have resulted during the transaction, including in connection with the payment methods; or

To provide information about state agencies, local governments, or TxT product enhancements.

Modifying Information

If your personal information maintained by TxT is incorrect, state law entitles you to have that information corrected. You may modify your personal information by logging into the TxT account that you created. At any point after registration of your account, you can modify your demographic data, email address, password, and more.

Deactivating Your Account

You can deactivate your account at any time using the deactivate button in the Account Settings section. Deactivating your account clears all data except for your account name, email address and the transaction history with government agencies. Keeping this limited information allows you to return and access the deactivated account later.

Information Protection

TxT utilizes extensive security measures to protect against the loss or misuse of information shared by you. TxT follows generally accepted industry standards and the appropriate administrative, physical, and technical safeguards to protect the privacy of sensitive, personal, and confidential information submitted to TxT, both during transmission and when TxT receives it.

Information Retention and Public Information Act

TxT does not sell and does not generally release (other than as provided in this notice) personally identifiable information to third parties; however, information provided to any governmental body may be subject to disclosure pursuant to the Texas Public Information Act and applicable federal and state legislation. Information about the Texas Public Information Act is available from the Office of the Attorney General and at Texas Government Code, Chapter 552.

Upon leaving TxT and linking to an external site, the policies governing TxT no longer apply, and you are subject to the external site’s policies. Questions and concerns regarding the information or services provided by a linked site must be directed to the entity or individual responsible for that site.

Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act

Children under the age of 13 are not eligible to use TxT services that require submission of personal information and should not submit any personal information to us. This includes submitting personal information to the website as part of a user profile or personalization profile. If you are a child under the age of 13, you can use these services only if used together with your parents or guardians. Seek guidance from your parents or guardians if you are under the age of 13.

Privacy Notice Changes

We reserve the right to change the privacy practices regarding information collected when using the TxT application at any time. We encourage you to review this page periodically to stay informed of any updates. Any modifications are effective immediately.

Having said that, Terms and Conditions (“T&C”) are a set of legally binding terms defined by you, as the owner of this website. The T&C set forth the legal boundaries governing the activities of the website visitors, or your customers, while they visit or engage with this website. The T&C are meant to establish the legal relationship between the site visitors and you as the website owner.

T&C should be defined according to the specific needs and nature of each website. For example, a website offering products to customers in e-commerce transactions requires T&C that are different from the T&C of a website only providing information (like a blog, a landing page, and so on).

T&C provide you as the website owner the ability to protect yourself from potential legal exposure, but this may differ from jurisdiction to jurisdiction, so make sure to receive local legal advice if you are trying to protect yourself from legal exposure.
